Here you will find 77 billion trees, 168,000 lakes, 81,000 moose, and 1,900 bears. (Don’t worry: there are no bears in Helsinki!)

    During your conference visit, you can enjoy the brightest days of the year, even reading the Bible in the middle of the night using natural light.

  • 2. RUG CLEANING

    A typical tradition each summer for Finns is to wash their rugs outdoors with pine oil soap using a natural scrubbing brush, even in the capital, Helsinki.

  • 3. EVERYMAN’S RIGHTS

    In Finland, you are free to explore and enjoy nature: for example, swimming, roaming in the forests, and picking berries and mushrooms. (Sorry, berries don’t ripen until July.)

    In summer, the shelves of shops are full of all sorts of gadgets and repellents to get rid of mosquitoes. Finns like to be prepared.

Helsinki – a nicely sized capital city

Helsinki is a young and modern capital city with 664,000 inhabitants, beautifully situated on the shores of the Baltic Sea. 

Many people consider Helsinki to be at its best during the summer months. Here, you’ll find Nordic architecture, beautiful parks, great places to eat, and lots of interesting museums and exhibitions to explore. You can also take a cruising tour and discover the beauty of the Helsinki archipelago.   

Helsinki and its neighbouring cities, Espoo and Vantaa, are connected through good public transport. An online service from the public transportation system, HSL, offers a “Journey Planner” (https://www.hsl.fi/en) which will help you find your way around the city and its many attractions.
